Workshop Signals & Friends 2025

SIGNALS, the Star Formation, Ionized Gas, and Nebular Abundances Legacy Survey with the imaging Fourier transform SITELLE, has obtained data for 35 nearby galaxies with a mean spatial resolution of 20 pc, allowing to observe spectroscopically and spatially resolved extragalactic HII regions. It offers a statistically reliable laboratory to study small-scale nebular physics and phenomena linked to star formation in galaxies.

Main objectives of the workshop:

- to bring SIGNALS team members together for helpful discussions and to orient new analysis;

- to give a detailed overview of the data products from SIGNALS/SITELLE;

- to provide tutorials on how to use ORCS (the line fitting code for SITELLE) and other useful analysis tools.

Short presentations and reviews are scheduled. Among the speakers, Christophe Morisset will talk about 'New paradigm in star formation models'. Time periods for discussions are also planned.

Participants:

This workshop is designed for the members of the SIGNALS project and their students, but SITELLE users working on similar projects are also welcome.

The workshop will be held in Québec City at Université Laval. It is an 'in person' event (zoom presentations are not planned at the moment).
